Four friends discussing about new product launched by Google called BUZZ. The topic started by Sanjay who thinks "Google Buzz" is similar to Twitter . Enjoy it. An Healthy discussion. Here it goes..............

Sanjay Kumar - buzz seems like twitter :)
Kamal Chandwani - Seriously...they dont even bothered to change the code or add some feature...Why Reinvent the Wheel...heheheh9:55 am
Sitaram Meena - No its not the same! You dont realize it at the first look. But its much more! First thing you should notice is that, there is no 140 character limit. And that, sort of changes things. :)11:31 am
Sanjay Kumar - 140 limit was imposed purposely because maximum size of one sms is 140 character...Edit11:35 am
Sitaram Meena - Dont you think I know that. I am talking about the difference here. 140 char limit was something which differentiated Twitter from everything else. And that is why, It is so successful. And the same thing Differentiates Google Buzz from Twitter. Its more close to older feed services rather than Twitter.11:38 am
Sanjay Kumar - Obviously I could see its strength but concept is more or less derived from Twitter .. not an original idea... They just got a better way to extend and present the same idea.. :)Edit11:38 am
Sitaram Meena - I agree partially. But thats what innovation is all about! Use an existing idea and extend it. Isnt it?11:48 am
Sanjay Kumar - I agree on that :) but Newton is still the father of Physics even if you derive various other formula based on his principle :)Edit11:53 am
somesh rahul - General consensus...hmm....though i was liking the conversation...
My thoughts are..buzz will make impact sooner than twitter because of Gmail Integration....our gmails are open 24x7....hence more buzzing..:)
11:58 am
Sitaram Meena - But in that case.. Twitter cant be father of Feed services. coz they were there much before it. If anyone, it should be Yahoo messenger or MSN Messenger or some other rather unknown chat messenger.11:58 am
somesh rahul - kewl..go ahead ram bhaiya...11:59 am
Sitaram Meena - I agree with Somesh! He is spot on! Other big difference is GMail integration. How I can do everything from a mail conversation. Just the way I am doing it right now.. ANd this was one of the most interesting concept I liked Google Wave for as well. :)12:00 pm
Sanjay Kumar - @Somesh : "buzz will make impact sooner than twitter because of Gmail Integration " ..totally agree on this. ..read my another thread with Ashish.. I made the same point.. :)Edit12:01 pm
Sanjay Kumar - Agreed ! If I will teach somebody about the history of feed services Twitter with come first chronically.. So Past feed services > Twitter > Buzz.. and as we move ahead with time we expect a better service.. :) Mind the time difference ..Edit12:07 pm
Somesh Rahul - @Sansor: Similar minds think alike...
and also i am enjoying the way the conversations are proceeding..much more easier and less irritating that twitter...
12:07 pm
Sanjay Kumar - Buzz app still miss the tagging people in a buzz.. i hope they will do this very soon :) ..I know all these because I know twitter and other services did it..and Google will do it too but in some different way :) I like different and unique thing thats why I am liking it too :PEdit12:09 pm
Sitaram Meena - Killer thing about Buzz is that any one can use it! Its so simple... Twitter is not!12:14 pm
Sanjay Kumar - Means you agree that it is similar to Twitter but Buzz is more easy to use :P

Lets get back in time .........Not that far..
8:37am >> Sanjay Buzzed : buzz seems like twitter :)
Edit12:26 pm
Sanjay Kumar - Court Adjourned :)Edit12:26 pm
Sitaram Meena - yeah and your car seems like donkey-cart! :P12:28 pm
Kamal Chandwani - Will derive a line from a Bond flick...(By copying twitter) Google's martini is shaken...but not stirred...12:59 pm
Sanjay Kumar - @Kamal Chandwani : rite :P
@Sitaram Meena : Very naive comment :P Just like any freshers :P
Edit2:12 pm
Ashish Nigam - interesting conversation! ... however, many famous ppl i follow might not have gmail at all! what about that... i would say that buzz is more or less something in-between gmail and wave ...
just think about the ppl who are very active on twitter and don't want to share their email id in public or don't use gmail at all... i am mostly following such ppl on twitter ...
2:23 pm
Kamal Chandwani - @Ashish Nigam Good Observation...I guess this is Google's way to pull the crowd towards Wave....by creating Buzz (pun intended :))...therefore Buzz reinstates the power of Wave...2:28 pm
Sitaram Meena - @Sanjay Kumar : May be you didn't get that. It was an analogy :P

@Ashish Nigam : Your concern is valid. But then again, These user can create a new Google account just for buzzing and can keep the regular Google account for other services. There, problem solved! And further, There will be Browser extensions/Desktop clients/Mobile apps etc for buzzing and then you wont have to log-in ot gmail at all.

@Kamal Chandwani Bingo! Wave is still far ahead of its time. and Buzz is something in middle(As Nigam pointed out.), to take users towards new generation of messaging system. Thats Wave! :)
2:32 pm
Somesh Rahul - @ALL: This conversation is rolling out like a snowball..keep going guys..it can become the "BUZZ" of BUZZ.2:44 pm
Somesh Rahul - And yeah Gmail has 146 million monthly users, though not the BEST but still the best way of advertisement for BUZZ.
And I agree with Sitaram bhaiya that BUZZ might provide a bridge to neglected WAVE
2:55 pm
Ashish Nigam - @Sitaram Meena : it will be great if all the famous politician, TED ppl, big organizations, reporters will make a google account for just Buzzing! my more than 95% twittes are from such ppl...
In general, for me, buzz could replace orkut easily because mostly indians have orkut (and only indians probably from my friend list)! however, facebook will still be there because many europeans doesn't use gmail! hmmm (difficult to convince them!)
3:08 pm
Kamal Chandwani - UI is definitely better...but the most important point is Google has brought the sense of time/synchronization/order...which was lacking on twitter...at this point...anyone can see the merging of chat/blogs/mails/tweets into something into an Unified concept...but of course Google was the first one to foresee it...3:11 pm
Ashish Nigam - public profiles are already started coming ... hmm http://www.google.com/profiles/egullyindia , now they can get my email address easily, i need to do something !3:11 pm
Sanjay Kumar - @Sitaram Meena I think you can't use others copyright material for free specially these analogies :P..
Secondly, Google is just trying to get attention from everywhere. By making wave they have proved it. What I mean by this is that they are trying to change the messaging service all together which is against all of us. They are making us used of a thing which is not following any protocol.

Like we have n numbers of mail servers and we can communicate among each other without breaking any privacy of related server with whom you are communicating. Current mail servers follow some protocol and we can exchange mails. We are not restricted to any specific mail servers. But we can't do the same thing on wave. We need to have account on gmail. If you don't have an account you can't use it. If your friends want to use wave then they need to have a account on wave else they can't communicate.

They are trying to polarize this internet world. They want to remove all this mail server concept. May be you feel that we are moving ahead with google tech but giving so much of power in one hand will be a problem later. They should provide us a way to export all our conversation in a usable format and they must remove all these account creation restriction. will be continued..
Edit3:13 pm
Ashish Nigam - I agree with chandu, Google is first to implement the concept of Unified conversation! and I love Google Wave ... but Buzz! something like integrating mini-wave into gmail!3:17 pm
Sanjay Kumar - Feeling like Jerry Fletcher, man who sees conspiracies everywhere.

Sitaram Meena - @Sanjay Kumar Make informed comments. Every messaging service has to follow a protocol by definition and so does Wave. I believe your concern was an open protocol(like POP3/IMAP/SMTP for e-mails). And to answer that, Wave will be(is?) open source and any one will be able to set up a web server and these nodes will be able to converse to each other as well. Right now Google is the only provider with Wave service. But if it picks up, anyone can build their own Wave server and communicate through a common protocol.

And about your next concern, of giving power to one hand(Google), I would say that, Google is not forcing you, as let say a Microsoft would. Microsoft will restrict you and wouldn't allow to inter-operate. Google on the other hand, have opened up all their new services or at lease have provided API to inter-operate.

And we, as in people, give power to one who is innovative and provides better service. Facebook and Twitter are examples of that. Why don't we use Orkut instead of Facebook, even though its a Google service. Because simply, Facebook is better. And we don't mind using a Google service if its better than rest! or rather, we don't have a choice. Let others provide better service and we'll jump the ship and leave Google.

Sanjay Kumar - @Sitaram Meena : Until Google wave provides a good integration with pop3/smtp, it will not take off because people do not want to deal with two different messaging systems. {Found in Extension Apps of Google Wave}. http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/wave/thread?tid=78cfe89b731e8de4&hl=en

When this "Will" will change to "is" we will start using that too :) Till then.. We should do more research and will later discuss on this topic :P

"Because simply, Facebook is better." I am surprised you said that. That day you didn't support but its better late than never :P
